Summary

    Today’s portable electronic devices (such as mobile phones, wearable devices, headphones, smartwatches, Bluetooth speakers, smart speakers, walkie-talkies), these portable products are often used in some harsh environments, such as rainy days, swimming pools, underwater sports, skiing, mountaineering, running and other harsh environments.

   The use of these portable products in such harsh environments presents challenges to the structure of the microphone (where the acoustics are received) and the speaker (where the sound is produced) : splashing of dust, pollutants and particles, erosion by sweat, and immersion of fresh and sea water. 

   These challenges often result in water flooding and blockage of the microphone or speaker, and the increasing number and weight of the microphone will prevent the speaker from producing high pressure level sound, degrading the acoustic quality. Although the IP6X protection level can effectively protect the particulate matter, but the protection of haze, smoke, tobacco smoke and dust size less than 10μm, especially the particles between 1-10μm (the common particle size range in the application environment of mobile electronic equipment), it is difficult to effectively protect;

    Smart wearable devices for underwater sports are often required to be waterproof performance up to 3ATM (30 meters waterproof), 5ATM (50 meters waterproof) or even 10ATM (100 meters waterproof).

    In order to realize the waterproof, breathable and dustproof tuyere of smart phones and smart wearable devices and the clear & high-quality acoustic quality of microphone, more stringent requirements are put forward for the protection level and waterproof requirements of speakers and microphones.
